Medical Spanish in the tropical beauty of Costa Rica

Learning Spanish has never been so fun! This wonderful class is a traveling exploration of culture, nature, language and life.
This eight day course will teach you basic communication skills in Spanish, give you immersion Spanish experience, provide you with a relaxing tax deductible vacation in Costa Rica and with 20 continuing education contact hours useful for many disciplines. Upon completion of this course you will be able to complete a basic health history, review of systems and assessment with the Spanish Speaking client.

The course fee includes a handy reference text for further study and use on the job.

Your fun begins with the magic that is Volcano Arenal, one of the world's most visited volcanoes. We will relax in a well apportioned Volcano lodge, enjoying its fantastic view of Arenal, the best in food, rainforest gardens, jungle & canopy hiking trails, bird watching, hot tub and swimming pool. Guided day and night hikes, adventure excursions, and horseback riding are also available per applicable fees, while practicing your Spanish. After enjoying the splendor and natural beauty of Arenal Volcano, the enjoyable learning continues with a pharmacy tour in La Fortuna, where we will learn about the laws and practices in Costa Rica ( and have an opportunity to stock up on things).

Then the class heads for complete immersion in the soothing, relaxing low sulfur geothermal waters in the quaint rural town of Guayabo in the state of Guanacaste. This small lovely hot springs resort, located in the fresh country air of Costa Rica's mountains, will provide 3 more delightful days of immersion in the culture , foods, and language of Costa Rica. With 20 hours of class time spread out over 8 days there will be plenty of time for soaking, eating, having tropical drinks at the swim up bar, sun baths and volleyball games. Reasonably priced zip lines, mud baths, massages and OUTRAGEOUS WATER SLIDE and volcano caldera tours are all located nearby. We'll experience local art & artists, foods and farms, eating fresh foods and juices daily all as part of our Tropical Immersion experience.

After three relaxing days at the hot springs, the group will pack up and head to the beach. First we stop in Liberia, capital city of Guanacaste, for a little tour of downtown, visit the markets and test drive your Spanish. The February class enjoys the cultural festivities known as Fiesta in Liberia, an immersion that you will never forget… The course trip then continues to Playa Grande, "the big beach", for fun in the sun and waves, on this world renowned surfing beach. There are many things to do in Playa Grande besides surf, such as wildlife viewing, rare mangrove forest & boat tours, snorkeling, relaxing and the "muy calliente" night life of Tamarindo is minutes away, just across the bay. Playa Grande is one of a very few beaches in the world that the Leatherback sea turtles lays eggs at, and if you are lucky you can see one of these magnificent huge endangered turtles. Many other sea turtles are year round residents of this unique and rare beach.

This class will improve your confidence to use Spanish while improving your communication skills, provide much needed relaxation ( tax deductible), and give you 20 continuing education contact hours useful for nurses, fireman, paramedics, EMT's, RT, PT and many others!
